For those who collect baseball cards, getting the best cards, your favorite players, and the cards that are worth the most value, are generally what the collector is looking to do when purchasing new cards. So, if you are at a trade and collector show, where cards are being sold, if you want to ensure that you are not buying a fake card, there are a few things to consider before you buy. First off is the hologram, especially on the big name brands of the card you are purchasing. The big name card dealers have a small hologram on the back of the card, so if this is missing, you will know it is a fake. You also want to check the name brand of the card. Most of the bigger names, like Topps, generally have a specific way of spelling the card name. So, you want to check this as well, to ensure you are getting a real card. These are the easiest things to spot, but there are also other small subtle hints to look for, especially when at a trade show, in order to ensure the card that you are buying is really a genuine card.
